I bought this book and its companion "Understanding the FFT" to add to my basic knowledge of Fourier transforms. I need to know how to implement FTs and so far these books have been a better reference for this than any of the others I've read. Aquiring this practical understanding has been made much easier. I own both the Understanding the FFT volume and its companion, Understanding FFT Applications. They have their place on my technical bookshelf. If you are new to the FFT, or just so-so with undergrad level engineering math, then this series of volumes on the FFT is likely to prove a gold mine. If you eventually tire of being taught by example at a sometimes slow and tedious pace after you are exposed to the basics, look elsewhere.The complete titles of the books say it all. They are tutorials for laymen, students, technicians and working engineers. They are NOT sophisticated. If you are seeking enough understanding to grasp some fundamentals by example they can be highly recommended as a place to start.Unfortunately, despite its strengths, the series feeds into the "this is all you have to know if you are a practical person" mentality frequently expressed by many I've met in the technical areas. The ideas of "practical and useful" should always be qualified by the terms "for what and to whom". It all depends on who you are and what you are trying to do.It is true that sometimes it is better to cut to the heart of the matter with simplistic approaches, but challenging problems are not all reducible to these kinds of "seat of the pants" approaches. The trick is knowing when to "hold or fold". Sometimes it is actually more "practical" to acquire a more sohpisticated approach to a subject, as it saves huge amounts of time and effort later on, and can provide insights that are not initially obvious.Fourier transforms are a sophisticated mathematical tool with broad applications frequently found in areas where analysis of complex data sets is important. I bought the Quick & Easy Tarot to learn how to read the cards and do readings online. This was about a year ago. I must say that it has helped me out tremendously. I am doing readings online and people are giving me great reviews. There are 78 cards total in the deck and each card has 2 meanings written on the card for you to read. I haven't memorized all the meanings in a year but I have noticed that I recognize some cards and know if it's a good card or a bad card. The pictures on the cards are also helpful to read. I make my own personal interpretations after reading the meaning of the card. Mostly on my readings I draw 2 cards. Sometimes for a longer reading I draw 3. They work. I would like to add that I bought a 2 inch alexandrite crystal ball from amazon and it goes very well with my readings. I gave it a good review as well. I use the tarot cards and the crystal ball to get the best results possible in readings. I know these two items would be far more expensive if I purchased them both at a specialty shop. Thank you Amazon!
This set is a must buy when you are first starting out. The card meanings and answers are written out right on each card. Also includes card reading layouts. I make all my students get them first then work up to a non learning set.
Great Cards for a beginner, I also use them when doing professional readings so clients can see the meanings themselves and together we can often figure out more accurate and deeper gudiance that way! Also builds trust as they can see the meanings themselves and know I'm not making up what they want to hear etc.
I love these cards and have used them for years until my set disappeared. These are beautifully illustrated and very clear to read the meaning on the card but I had to give 3 stars because my package arrived in a bubble envelope and the box was open and damaged to the point it won't stay shut. Other than that I love the cards but they could have been bent or damaged. Please box for your future customer shipments.

I like the illustrations on these cards. I got them because I have gotten back into reading Tarot after having not done it for 12 years. I am one that believes in the cards, shuffling, and feeling their energy when reading someone. Many 'tarot readers' today use the internet to look up card meanings, and fake shuffle cards when reading over the phone.I got these so I could have a refresher on card meanings. I am glad that I started reading again before deciding to buy these, though. The definitions on the cards are very literal, and without using my own intuition, these cards would throw my reading off. I tried doing one last night using the definitions on the cards exclusively. The reading was horrible. Nothing made any sense.Not saying that the definitions are inaccurate, however they don't address symbolism. They really are very 'literal', so if you aren't familiar with the cards and meanings behind the numbers or the suites, you won't be able to accurately read your subject.That being said, the detail given on the card definition is interesting to say the least. I would also say that the in depth explanations have added another layer of knowledge and understanding that I didn't possess before.As commented on earlier, the illustrations on these cards are very beautiful, a much softer tarot. That being said, the pictures don't take away from the card's meaning. The definitions are made much clearer if you study the illustration as it relates to the definition. It's like two halves of a puzzle and you don't see the full picture until everything is in place.I have only done one practice reading with these cards, I found that it took me twice al long because I felt as if I needed to refer to an alternate source before deciding what part of the subject's spread was literal and what part was being referred to as an allegory. I found myself confused and second guessing what I was seeing in the cards.I have not decided whether I will keep this deck or not. I cannot use it in a reading until I commit all the definitions to memory and am able to easily reconcile what I feel with what I know.
I got these simply because I wished they had something like this when I started reading tarot. I may not always agree with the interpretation on the cards, but at least it is a good starting point. I would definitely recommend these for any beginner. Good card stock too.
Nice for beginners. I'm not a fan of the backing and the pictues are quite small, but it does what it claims to do. Sort of like tarot cards and flash cards all rolled into one. It's great if you are just starting out and trying to memorize all the various meanings. I do find some of the card descriptions are vague and leave out important main themes of the cards. But that's all in the option of the reader. ;) perfect deck for anyone just staring out in tarot.

I don't know how I stumbled about this book. I truly believe that it is a life saver. I am a 53 yr old male who prefers natural ways of dealing with health challenges and even better is prevention. First half of the book was very good explaining heart conditions. Later he gets into homeopathic remedies for prevention. A lot of emphases on oral liquid EDTA chelation. And he recommends a specific product. Book is OK is you want to read about non-estabished methods. My Doctor said the EDTA studies show mixed results.

This book is terrible. I can't believe my class required it. Chapters are incredibly long and you flip between information that is very fluffed / not useful for the examples given to incredibly dense examples that take multiple re-reads to even begin to understand. Additionally, the thing is RIDDLED with typos that make doing work almost impossible. Multiple times in a chapter I will have the textbook reference something like "See figure 6.17a" only for figure 6.17a to not exist!A typo here and there or grammatical issues is one thing, but pointing students to non existent figures while requiring them to solve problems that need referencing of those figures is unforgivable. This is easily the worst textbook I've used in my university career.
I'm afraid I have to agree with most of the reviewers here: this book is horrible. Unfortunately, it's required for my class. In order to actually understand most of the subject matter, I have to constantly refer to other books, YouTube videos, Google searches, and homework help services. It seems the authors are trying to cram too much information into one book, with the result that they are covering all of the information very badly. My recommendation would be to cut down on the variety of information presented and cover fewer topics well.
Using this book for a graduate course. As other reviewers have stated its a really rough read and at times difficult to follow. Agree with others that this book needs to be better edited for content and clarity. Would not recommend as a reference book.
I personally liked this text.It is not perfect, and some sections should be more elaborated, but otherwise it is rather informative.Covers boolean algebra, logic gates, memory organization, and many other good things.It can't be read quickly. You will have to spend time to read carefully.Positive: for the most part questions for each chapter can be answered based on information in the book. In my life I have encountered text where there were NO way questions could be answered based solely on the info in the text. So, if you getting this text for class, it is good news.Negative: I feel that some sections could be elaborated more with further examples. For instance binary divisions and multiplications would be better with couple more examples.I feel like I didn't waste time reading it, so you too could learn something from it (unless of course you already know the subject well...).
This book is ok, but sometimes does not do a great job at more detailed explanations. It seems to really only be meant for introductions into the topics where when the student gets to class, the professor goes into more detail. Honestly after mid-terms I stopped reading it but it is a good reference and the MARIE language developed by the authors is really useful to introduce students to assembly type languages.
The chapters provide a general overview of ideas/topics but the questions at the end of the chapter are very detail intensive. Probably the second worst book I have ever come across in my entire life. Know that if the book is required, you will be using other sources to actually learn the material to do the homework. Good luck.
Thorough, well-written, highly technical textbook. Presented the detailed information I was looking for with a lot of helpful examples and diagrams. Really not sure why it's gotten such poor reviews here. Sure, some of the information is complicated and dry -- but that's the nature of the subject matter.
I would give it a five star if it's a book from Wikibooks. Lots of overly detailed facts, historical information, mediocre but acceptable formatting, and excessive citations - everything you would expect from a community sourced textbook.But this is a published textbook with a price tag of over 200 dollars. And only minutes into reading the book, I got terribly frustrated. Some of the problems the book has, which I've discovered after reading the first chapter, are as follows:1. The book uses very low quality images. On Page 9, there is even a picture taken from Wikipedia! Being printed in black and white, it is near impossible to see what's actually on the picture. (It is a photo of a motherboard with blurry annotations that you cannot read). And on Page 27, there is a picture that seemed taken by a cellphone camera. What's bothering me is that the book actually uses professional illustrations as well. Why do they allow low quality images to be used when they have access to professional artists, who could easily draw a much better illustration than a low resolution photo.2. The typography of this book is rather bad. If they could use a smaller font size that most college-level textbooks would use, the near 900-page book would probably be only half as thick. The formatting is so minimal that you will have no idea if you are reading a new section or just a sub-section. Important concepts are not highlighted properly, while random words are put in bold for no apparent reasons.3. It seems that whoever wrote the exercise questions did not read the book at all. Questions are irrelevant to what's covered in the chapter, and sometimes require you to Google the answer - the book just mentions nothing about what the question's asking.4. Also it seems that whoever wrote the answers for the exercise questions did not read the questions at all. The answer to exercise 8 in Chapter 1 seems just plain wrong.However, it is a solid book - it holds my coffee mug without deformation, even after hours of use.

With so few pages in this book, it seems as if the authors went out of their way to include several instances of nudity. This book would be much better with more great works included, and no nudity. Not worth the price, and not very engaging compared to other children’s art books.
This is a great book! I am homeschooling and we focus on one artist a week. This was the perfect supplement to my lessons. I would recommend to any parent or educator.
My daughter takes an art class and loves to draw. I bought this book for Christmas and she just rolled her eyes. But we read about one artist an evening. The information tidbits about the artist are very interesting and one of their major works described. Each artist gets about 2-3 pages, just enough to interest my daughter but not overwhelm her. And I have learned as well! I recommend this book for budding artist who should know about the major artist and their contributions to the history of art. Excellent book.
This book is unreadable because of pages printed on top of each other. Sadly, I kept it for six months before reading do I can’t return it.
The text (inside of the book) is written in german! We didn't realize this until we opened the book. It is beyond the returns window so we now have a german book that no one can read.
One of my favorite books for my daycare children. We do an art theme every year, and this book is key! In our themed week, I include this book as well as ones covering just the specific artists. Its a great book to have... one your children will love!
I wanted to introduce my granddaughter to a variety of artists and she enjoys it. I wish there were fewer "modern" artists and thus the 4 stars.
My aspiring artist (age 6 1/2) loved this book. Yes, she laughed and giggled at the nudity but got over it quickly and is enjoying the content and artwork.
